Mitsubishi Vehicle Reviews by Autoweek, Autobytel, & the Chronicle Herald

2009 Outlander SE driver's log (Autoweek 10/14/2009)

"The last thing I checked out was the third-row seating--I was surprised to find it really existed in this small of a ute. It's thin and underpadded, but it fits into the floor without taking up much space and could provide two extra seats in a pinch, making the Outlander a seven-seater. Usually, third rows are only for use in a pinch, so this one makes sense in that it doesn't try to be more than just a temporary seat for short hauls. Smart.
The Outlander is a tight handler in tall-wagon terms with its stiffly tuned suspension that is actually fun to chuck around.
For a tall wagon, the Outlander looks slick. Tasteful chrome trim and the lines give it a slightly aggressive look."

Lancer Sportback review by Todd Gillis (Chronicle Herald [Nova Scotia] 10/15/2009)

"We tested the RalliArt sedan for a week last spring and liked that ride, too, but the versatility and extra cargo room of the hatchback met my kid/stuff haulin' needs a tad better... Okay, hatchback. But I like sportback better. A ride with such a high fun factor is better labelled as sportback.
A few things added positively to the ample non-human cargo room. One was the high-opening rear hatch which made it easy to load stuff in from the back, and the other was the 60/40 split-foldable rear seats.
The RalliArt's drive was, to say the least, spirited. It shifted through the gears smoothly and offered insane amounts power after takeoff while being pretty darn smooth when its pedal was mashed.
On the whole, my $35,058 tester looked like a shark ready to feed from the front on, and under its lid it had the teeth to fuel a driver's need for performance and speed. The RalliArt Sportback seemed to be an excellent mix of utility, performance and style."

Lancer Ralliart review by Ron Moorhead (autobytel 10/13/2009)

"More than a middle of the road contender, the Ralliart excites on all levels.
Mitsubishi has achieved its lofty goals and mastered filling the gap between the base Lancer and the Evolution X.
This sport sedan gives driving enthusiasts the best of both worlds by offering up gobs of power from its turbocharged four-cylinder engine, excellent handling, big brakes and a transmission that handles twisting back country roads as well as it handles stop and go commuter traffic. The Lancer Ralliart wraps the best of both driving scenarios together in a compact and economic package.
This powerful engine is just as easy to drive in commuter traffic as it is on a twisty mountain pass road.
Steering feedback through the redesigned leather wrapped steering wheel is just right for this car, not harsh but just enough to give driver the feel for the road. The new Ralliart fulfills the greatest majority of our need for speed and sports driving. Plus this automobile will make us very happy if we got stuck in 7:00 a.m. commuter traffic because in the back of our minds we know come Friday afternoon we will be out on out favorite back country road grinning from ear to ear."
